[edit] Description

This wooden sailboat is just offshore from the Ivy Lea Campground. Although there is no buoy at the site, a submerged line leads from near-shore (approximate depth 10') down to the wreck. An abundance of fish and the the rocky bottom make this an interesting shore dive. The view of the lights under the 1000 Islands Bridge at night makes it an especially pretty night dive.

The easiest way to dive this site is to make a drift dive. Enter at campsite no.100 or the next one, where you follow the chain to the wreck. After leaving the wreck, follow the wall and let yourself drift in mild to strong current. Beware of not drifting too far from the wall, because the current will push you towards the middle of the St. Lawrence river. Your exit point is the campground's beach; the wall becomes less steep entering the bay and you will also come across a metal cable that runs North-South. Swin towards the shallow water where you can exit safely and slowly.

[edit] Access

This wreck can be done as a shore dive from the Ivy Lea Campground site. Campers can dive it at will, others can dive it for a $5 park access fee.

  • New : As of 2009, you now need to make a reservation for a campgsite in order to dive from Ivy Lea Campground.

[edit] Hazards

The geography of this location makes the currents behave strangely. Currents pulling up, down, east and west can all be experienced at this site and divers should be careful not to become disoriented or make unnoticed changes in depth.
